You can do all the training scenarios but nothing can prepare you for the real thing. I spent many years in various Custodial roles and know from personal experience." Fight or Flight " our training staff used to call it.........Mackey chose the latter!

So as a copper he did a shit job, but as a box ticking pen-pusher he did a bang up job reducing the Mets effectiveness in combatting crime and so receives a knighthood - naturally.

On the announcement of his knighthood, Scotland Yard praised his role in reforming the Met amid tightening budgets and his push for diversity within the force.


No mention of thief taking then , just employing cheaper staff.

The senior Scotland Yard officer who locked himself in his car during the Westminster terror attack is due to retire within weeks, as pressure mounts on the police watchdog to investigate his conduct.
